Bry's Birthday

On December 30th, Bry turned 12 years old. Uncle Adrian and Aunt Kristina, along with Zachary, Jonathan, and Madison, came down from Bountiful to celebrate with us.

Bry's bike was stolen out of our yard last summer, so he was excited to get a new bike. Uncle Adrian (who teaches science for a living) and Aunt Kristina gave him a science kit, which I think he was even more excited about!

We have a tradition in our family of celebrating most of the kids' birthdays with only family. On their 5th, 8th, 12th, and 16th birthdays, they can have a party with friends. On their 5th and 8th birthdays, each of our children chose to have a traditional party, inviting as many friends as their age. Beginning on their 12th birthday, they have the option of inviting just a few friends to go do something fun and then to lunch. On Friday, Bry invited some friends to come celebrate his birthday at the Peaks Arena ice skating rink. Only one of the boys had ever been ice skating before, so it was fun watching their first wobbly attempts at skating. Bry caught on rather quickly. The one boy who had skated before was the one who had the most trouble! Well, besides me, that is.

Afterwards, I took them to Sizzler for lunch. Bry chose Sizzler because of their shrimp, something that he loves but rarely gets to eat. Please ignore the extremely awful quality of the picture, but here is Bry surrounded by his friends, Nicholas, Austin, Jed, and Jacob.

This last Sunday, he was ordained a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. He is both nervous and excited to pass the Sacrament at church this coming Sunday.
